I think that I was wrong in thinking that the rest of the Janathon would be plain sailing if I could get beyond Day 13. Day 14 was also a toughie! I managed to get up early to go to the Cambridge parkrun but I decided to marshall instead of run the 5k course.
There was a massive turnout at the parkrun again, despite the freeeeezing conditions, and it was nice to cheer on the runners (including my sister, her other half and quite a few others from the club) around the course.
My run had to wait until 7pm when I headed back to the gym. I was surprised that there were only about 3 or 4 other people in there – I imagined that it would get busy at weekends. I couldn’t figure out how to change the treadmill settings from km to miles, so I set my target to 2km as I was sure that this would be over the minimum target of a mile that I set myself.
I found it hard going and it felt as though I was flying along, but again the stats show that it was not as fast as I thought it was. Road running is so much easier than running on a treadmill. Treadmill running also still feels like I am cheating as I was expecting to run the whole 31 days outside – but a run’s a run though isn’t it?
