Janathon Day 7 – Cambridge parkrun

An early start this morning, so quick shower to try and wake myself up, quickly got into my last items of clean running gear that I had laid out the night before, and headed to Cambridge parkrun. Got there at about 8:45 and there were already lots of other runners there, including a big group of parkrun newbies who were grouped together ready for the beginners briefing.

I started right at the back as I am starting to get quite a bit of pain in my left foot so I wasn’t sure if I could/should run the whole 5k. It was such a lovely morning for a run though and I managed to keep up with some other runners, so just over 34 minutes after the start I was trying to outsprint another lady through the finish line (I will get her next week!).

Quite a few runners finished the parkrun and then carried on to do a few extra laps of the course now they have started their training plans for marathons and half marathons. It was a nice feeling sitting down at the cafe with a latte after my run watching the others still running round.

So, again it was not a great run, but it’s another (muddy) parkrun under my belt, taking my parkrun total up to 39.

Distance: 3.04 miles (5km)

Time: 34:19

Ave Pace: 11:17

Sounds lovely. I’m very tempted to take you up on your offer to come back. Good news that your foot held out for the full distance.
