Wednesday Night Club Run

After completing the Janathon and running every day in January, I finally had a rest day yesterday. This was desperately needed (even if not particularly well earned) after running a total of 60 miles in the Janathon.

I was looking forward to running with the BRJ running club tonight although I was a little worried about the route as it sounded really long and I struggled to run just over 4 miles on Monday. There were 10 of us tonight including my sister which was a nice surprise as I hardly ever get to run with her. The first part of the run seemed like it was mostly up hill and I really struggled, but after a quick stop we got going again and I was able to catch my breath on the long downhill section. I was by far the slowest of the group but someone always stayed back and ran with me and the others looped back several times.

I clocked up 5.49 miles tonight!!! That is the furthest I have ran in such a long time so I am feeling really pleased with myself. Some of the others commented that my running really seems to have improved and that they didn’t have to loop back as far for me as they used to – I am sure that this is all down to the Janathon. This has given me the confidence to sign up for my first 10k in a couple of months time and then ….. well…. who knows.

Stats

Distance: 5.49 miles

Time: 1:02:44

Brilliant! If you can run 5.49 miles now then you’ll definitely be able to do a 10km i a couple of months.
