Janathon Day 17

Tonight it was the second week of the beginners course with the BRJ running club. We all stayed in the groups we were put into last week, but each group upped either the time or the distance to run today. We were doing an out and back like the main Monday group were (which was strange as even though we did the same route our paths never crossed!) and ran to Brampton for 1.5 miles and then turned round and headed back to the rec. My legs felt really heavy and it was a struggle at first but after about 10 minutes it seemed to get a bit easier. I was really disappointed that I could not keep up with the rest of the group. They did wait for me at the half way mark and but they soon shot off again back to the rec. Thankfully someone from the club stayed with me and encouraged me to keep going and told me not to worry about my pace. I admit that I didn’t give it 100% tonight and I probably could have kept up a bit more but I am just really conscious that I have to try and keep this up for another 31 minus 17 days.

I am wondering at what point I should really start going for it – possibly the last 7 days of the Janathon? I know that I should really get a longer run in before the end of the month too. Hopefully I will be able to do this 1 evening with the club. I am planning on doing another short run tomorrow but it should be in daylight! This means that I will be able to do the route again which goes passed the fields without the sheep in.

I felt *exactly* the same at running club tonight – the coach said to me that I was probably ready to go up a group but I declined the offer… Well done on the distance/time.

I’m just really impressed that you’ve joined running clubs. I’ve looked up local clubs on the internet, but have come up with a million and one reasons why not to join 🙂
