Janathon Day 8

Today I did my first parkrun of the year. This is the 5k timed run around Milton Country Park. It takes about 20 minutes to drive there from my house, and as it is a 9am start, it was all a bit of a rush this morning. Luckily my running stuff had dried after washing it last night and I found a clean pair of running socks.

There were 154 runners there today which is a really good turn out. There were 8 of us from BRJ running club. I started off at the back of the pack so that I could go at my own slow pace without getting in anyone’s way. My aim was to get round without walking and I really wasn’t bothered about what time I did it in. I ended up running with another lady who was doing about the same pace as me. I felt ok for the whole 3 miles and was able to sprint towards the finish and beat the lady I was running with (should I have done this or stayed with her?). Even though I finished in a really slow time I was really pleased with how the run went.

Distance: 3.05 miles (5k)

Time: 36:56 (148th out of 154)

Average Pace: 12:06

Best Pace: 7:23

Calories: 365

Well done Suzie Hall! Very good that you could run without having to walk. You’re building it back well. Yu’ll be up to 5 miles again in no time I’m sure! A little too much information about the dog!! Good luck for tomorrow….just a little one as you will be running for longer on Mon? x

Wow – well done – yours is the 5th blog I’ve read that did a park run – I might have to try one next week I think. Fab time!

I would say that it’s definitely ok to sprint for the finish rather than wait for your running partner…but that may just be my inner competitor talking.

Well done on getting to Parkrun. I know I should do it but I find it so difficult to get there on time on a Saturday. Maybe next week.
