Janathon Day 1

Today didn’t quite go as I planned. I was still up for the parkrun this morning despite having a few drinks last night and having quite a late night. I stayed at a friend’s house but took my running stuff with me to make sure that I could get to Cambridge for the 9am start. I managed to drag myself out of bed at about 7:30 and get my running gear on, then drove home to get my parkrun barcode and some fruit for a bit of energy. The second I stepped through the door of my house my head started thumping and I started feeling sick (I shouldn’t have had that last glass of port after having whiskey, lager and champagne) so I got straight back into my pj’s and decided to give the parkrun a miss until next Saturday.

I finally managed to get out for a run at about 6pm when I started to feel a little better. I knew that I would find it a bit of a struggle as I hadn’t run at all last month so I planned to run over the bridge and into town for a mile and then turn round and head home. The first mile was fine (although very slow) and I made it up to the start of the guided busway. I really struggled on the way back and had to walk a couple of times, but then picked the pace up a bit again when my house was almost in sight. I am hoping to do the same route again tomorrow so I can see if I start to improve.

I don’t blame you for giving park run a miss… I didn’t even manage to wake up until a long time after that would have finished. Good work on your run later on though and good luck for improvement on the run tomorrow…

Well done Suzie. I definitely wouldn’t have run yesterday. Having the Janathon is good though as you don’t have to make the decision to run as you already have!
